Lake CX146 Winter Road Cycling Shoes

Lake CX146 are road cycling shoes designed for cool and wet weather, making them particularly suitable for spring, autumn and milder winter days. The Softshell fabric, water-repellent microfibre, 200 g Thinsulate insulation and waterproof membrane help keep your feet warm and protect them from rain and road spray.

The shoes provide good protection against cold and moisture, but they are not completely waterproof during prolonged exposure to heavy rain. The manufacturer’s recommended temperature range extends down to -4 °C, although actual comfort also depends on riding intensity, socks and individual sensitivity to cold.

The CX/TX Sport last holds the foot securely and supports comfortable pedalling on longer rides. A snug toe box, higher arch and medium-width forefoot help reduce excessive foot movement inside the shoe. The fibreglass-reinforced nylon sole balances stiffness and comfort and is compatible with three-bolt road cleats.

The BOA® M4 closure system is designed to be operated while wearing gloves, while the Click-Fit mechanism makes the shoes easier to put on and take off. If you ride in cold and wet conditions and regular road shoes do not provide enough warmth, the CX146 is a practical solution.

Choosing the right size: When wearing thicker winter socks, Lake recommends choosing a size 1–1.5 sizes larger than your usual Lake shoe size.

Care: The water-repellent DWR treatment on the upper wears off over time. For moderate use, the manufacturer recommends renewing it once or twice a year, and every 2–3 wet rides if the shoes are used regularly in wet conditions. The shoes offer strong water repellency, but water may eventually penetrate during prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
